Torn Paper Mosaic: I use this intervention with clients who are struggling with perfectionism and related anxiety.
Directions: Print out a coloring sheet and then provide your client with glue and a variety of colored paper. Have your client rip pieces of paper to “fit” the lines on the coloring page, and glue them on. If they are taking too much time making it exactly the right size (they likely will) then give them a time limit. The point is for it to only vaguely printed image but to still look cool. This aims to demonstrate that it is okay not to be perfect and help the client to work through their discomfort, or even anxiety, while doing this activity. The note on it says “This may not look much like flowers but it is still beautiful. Perfection is overrated.” (example not client work)
