Lauren Stockly LCSW, RPT, ECMHS is a licensed child and adolescent mental health therapist and a children’s book author. She is also the founder of an EMDR and therapy tool brand called Bumble BLS. Her Creative Play Therapist blog and social media accounts reach an audience of over 000000 followers across multiple platforms.
While most schools of therapy were designed for adults, Lauren understands that children require specialized treatments that reflect both their emotional and developmental needs. As a therapist, Lauren uses her background in Play Therapy and other child-centered techniques to help kids and families find healing and healthy dynamics. In addition to her practice, she oversees a team of independent therapists at the Soultenders Child & Family Center in South Pasadena, and serves on the board of the California Association for Play Therapy (CalAPT).
Lauren’s knowledge of child and adolescent mental health is at the heart of her work as an author. She has published two children’s books, including the bestselling “Be Mindful of Monsters,” as well as an interactive workbook on emotional acceptance. Those in the mental health field, however, may know Lauren from her Creative Play Therapist blog, a trove of free resources, activities and interventions for mental health providers.
Since earning her MSW UCLA, Lauren has handled diverse caseloads across the Greater Los Angeles area. She now has over ten years of experience helping clients with a wide range of diagnoses, including severe trauma, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), OCD, ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief, LGBTQ+ identity and dissociative identity disorder (DID).
In addition to traditional modalities, including Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Lauren offers Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which uses a technique called bilateral stimulation to heal the mind and body from post-traumatic stress disorder. She also provides Direct Neurofeedback, a safe and effective treatment that supports mental health by modeling healthy brainwaves.
As a clinical consultant, Lauren has lent her knowledge and judgment to companies developing digital therapeutic platforms and other projects at the intersection of mental health and technology. Next, she is launching her own venture; a new line of durable bilateral stimulation devices suitable for both EMDR and Play Therapy. Look for this new brand, Bumble BLS, in 2024.
